The second night of 3D Dodgeball proved to be intense with the last two games coming down to the wire in the fifth and final matches.
DGAF 3, ARGENT 0
Team Argent forfeit.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon 3, Azure 0
Team Azure forfeit.
Pi Kappa Alpha 3, Lambda Chi Alpha 0
It was smooth sailing tonight for the Pi Kappa Alpha team in their game against Lambda Chi Alpha.
Both teams played offensively in the first match, and were 2-2 with a minute left in the game. In the last 30 seconds, Pike players Eric McKay and Brian Downing were able to get out the remaining Lambda Chi players and won the first match. Lambda Chi player Josh Hunter dodged well in the second half, but as the only player remaining for his team was no match for the five remaining Pikes. Lambda Chi players Matt Guernsey and Aaron Krakauer produced strong throws in the third match, but the Pikes were able to dodge successfully and were up 4-2. With a double hit by Erik McKay, Pike won the third and final match with a total score of 3-0.
Zeta Beta Tau 3, Tau Kappa Epsilon 1
What started out as an intense game quickly turned into a sweep by ZBT.
The first match went quickly, player for player until it was down to ZBT's Mike Roers and TKE's Joshua Duryea. With a strong throw by Roers, it seemed as if Duryea was hit, but he actually caught it before it bounced off of him, putting TKE in the lead. ZBT won the next two matches with ease, leaving it up to one more match for them to win the whole game. Both ZBT and TKE fought hard in the fourth game, and with two minutes left on the clock it was down to TKE's Andrew Schmidt to hit the remaining ZBT players. However, before Schmidt could get another teammate back in, ZBT Samuel Kay got him out with the final throw of the game.
DGAF 3, Lambda Chi Alpha 2
Teams DGAF and Lambda Chi Alpha both played well tonight in a game that went all the way into a fifth match. Lambda Chi was strong in the first match and quickly took out the DGAF players. However, DGAF recovered in the second match, with Captain Anthony Buralli taking out 4 of the 5 Lambda Chi players alone and with Jeanne Holman consistently dodging--both contributing to their team's win. With Lambda Chi winning the third match, and DGAF winning the fourth, it was down to the wire for both teams as they entered into the fifth and final match. After a fast-paced slew of dodges and catches, DGAF was up 4-2, with Lambda Chi players Josh Hunter and Aaron Krakauer still fighting for a win. However, with two final throws by Aaron Johnson, DGAF won with a total score of 3-2.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon 3, Pi Kappa Alpha 2
Pike and SAE played the final game of the night, and definitely the most intense.
The first match set the tone for the game as both teams were still in action with 15 seconds left on the clock, and Pike winning at the 10 second mark. The second match was played with just as much ferver, as the teams were 1-1 with a minute remaining. With a swift throw, SAE Nicholas Devitte was able to take out Pike Erik McKay, creating a tie game. With his consistent dodges keeping him in the game, it was once again down to Mckay in the third match. However, SAE still had three players on the court and were able to hit McKay and win the match. The situation flipped in the fourth game, with all Pike teammates on the court against the remaining SAE player, Samuel Johnson. After several dodges, Pike Brian Downing was able to hit Johnson, producing another tie game. As a win was on the line for both teams, the fifth match proved to be fast-paced and offensive. With thirty seconds left on the clock, SAE was up 5-2 and hit the remaining Pikes, providing a final score of 3-2 SAE.
