** GAME OF THE NIGHT** SAE 40 - Lambda Chi 36IMG_0626_500x333

The start of the game was nothing like how it ended.  At the beginning both teams were playing very sloppy basketball and could not get into any offensive rhythm.

Lambda Chi struggled with their passing game which caused a lot of turnovers.

Both teams started to find their shot and play their game late in the first half, and the halftime score was 20-15 SAE.

The game got really intense with 1:30 left in the game and SAE was up by two points.  On the inbound pass, SAE  immedietly traveled, giving the ball back to Lambda Chi down two points.

Lanre Wilson got fouled driving the lane which let him have a 1 and 1 free throw opportunity.  He bounced his free throw off the side of the rim.

With six seconds left, a foul by Lambda Chi and two made freethrows by SAE secured the victory

Justin Levy led SAE with 19 points, and Michael Snodgrass added eight for SAE.

Hiki No 46 – Alpha Gamma Delta 6

Hiki No was spotted four points at the beginning of the game due to AGD’s fourth and fifth players being a couple minutes late.  It made no difference as Hiki No scored 24 straight points to start the game on a 24 – 2 run.

Vaimalama Tito and Lynsie Krebs led their team with ten and six points respectively during the run.

Kaitlin Burroughs made the first basket for AGD with 7:15 left in the first half.

Hiki No’s swarming 2-3 zone defense forced many ill advised shots from AGD along with numerous turnovers.  Raecha-Ann Kauahikaua led the fast break for Hiki No as most of their points came off steals.

Briauna Bissen hit a jump shot at the buzzer to give Hiki No a 41-2 halftime lead.

The second half was more of the same as Hiki No continued to dominate in all areas of the game.

Tito ended the game with 16 points to lead Hiki No in their easy victory 46-6.

Native Rebs 44 – Delta Zeta 18IMG_0449_500x333

Jennifer Miller and the rest of her Native Rebs team easily beat Delta Zeta tonight 44-18.

The game was close at first but then Native Rebs broke it open half way through the first half.  Miller’s intense defense led to easy fast break lay-ups, as the Native Rebs out hustled DZ.

Corey Bradley tried to keep her team together with good defense but it wasn’t enough to keep them in the game.  Bradley ended with eight points and teammate Alicia Schaniel also ended with eight.

Native Rebs showed more passion in their convincing win over DZ.

Power Rangers 41 – Envi Hi 32

In the most even match up in the round of the coed games, Power Rangers pulled out a good win 41-32 over Envi Hi.

Both of these teams have good shooters, and both play very good defense, but Power Rangers size and strength are how they differ.

Brandy Bevans and Monica Compton each had seven points at halftime for Power Rangers.  The hustle and strength of these two players led their team on a 12-0 run to give them a 24-9 halftime lead.

The good defense of the Power Rangers made it hard for Envi Hi to find open looks.  Angie Ostrea didn’t seem to be bothered by the defense as she had a huge second half with 15 points for Envi Hi.

Ostrea’s offense wasn’t enough as Power Rangers literally overpowered Envi Hi tonight.  Bevans and Compton each ended with eight points and Brittney Harvey ended with eight also to help lead Power Rangers to their victory.

Arinze Uzowihe it one of two free throws with 8:30 to play in the game to give Hoover Dan Hoopers their first lead of the game 39-38.

Hoopers looked much more aggressive on defense, but their offensive rebounds in the second half were what made the difference.

Despite XXXX points from Flynn of Boyd, Hoopers just wanted it more and that is the reason why they won.

What also helped was their 19-1 run late in the second half behind Hill’s ten points and Bieri Lagramada’s nine points in the second half.

Hoover Dam Hoopers out hustled Boyd in their victory 54-45.

BSL 64 – PT Players 51

BSL’s good shot selection and exceptional free throw shooting led them in a win over PT Players 64-51.

They played very good and hard defense that led to several  Johnathan Winn blocks.

PT Players made a big run at the end of the first half that looked like the momentum could shift, but BSL stopped all hopes as they picked up their intensity in the 2nd.

Matthew Orme led BSL in scoring in both the first and second half and ended up with 30 points for the game.

Dominic Henriques and Miles Hohnstein played well for PT Players and finished the game with 13 and 15 points respectively.

Preston Simon and Daniel Romero led ZBT in the first half with nine and six points respectively.

TKE showed a little life early in the second half, behind Andrew Schmidt’s 13 points, ten in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.

Alpha Phi Alpha had four people score over seven points in their win over K-Sig.

Zeta Beta Tau 62 – Pi Kappa Alpha 37

Mike Roers looked like he couldn’t miss from long range as he sunk three 3 pointers in the first half.

Green of Pike was their only source of offense and he ended with 15 points in the first half.

ZBT led Pike 36 -19 at halftime.

The second half was just as intense as the first as physical play was the theme of this game.  There were lots of good drives to the basket that resulted in hard fouls.

ZBT slowly increased their lead in the second half and the game ended at the 2:00 mercy rule.

Green had a good second half but just one man could not bring a team back from such a large deficit.

Roers and John Houser led ZBT with 16 and 14 points respectively.

Delta Chi 66 – Sigma Alpha Mu 53

Delta Chi looked unbeatable from start to finish as they easily beat Sammy’s 66-53.  They started the game on an 8-0 run, but their defense was what caught everyone’s attention.

Magtunong could not do it all himself as ATO went on a 21-0 run to break away and win the game.
